Are you constantly bombarded by thoughts of negativity? Plagued by feelings of insecurity? Do you see everything in a negative manner? The reason for this lies deep within your heart. You are what you mentally and spiritually eat. A person who constantly feeds themselves negative thoughts will simply turn into a negative person. Would you rather live your life as positive people do?

You have to literally stop feeding your mind negative things. Ask yourself is this thought negative or positive or negative? What do negative thoughts look like? Well, they start with can’t rather than can, no as opposed to yes, will and not won’t. The problem in our society has become that our thoughts have taken us captive. We have begun to let our thoughts control us. Staying positive is hard than before surrounded by social media and dozens of news sources.

Positive Attitude Exercise

A great way to know what we are negative about is to ask those people who are closest to us. You can ask your spouse or another person in your life who really knows you how they would rate your attitude on a scale of 1 to 10.

10 being super positive and 1 super negative.

Ask this person to be totally honest with you. You will benefit from their honesty even if it causes you pain. Ask this person what it is that you specifically say that they perceive as negative. Write down what they say and look at the actual words. Now is the time to be honest with yourself. Those words are a reflection of what is inside you. They are who you are. The great thing is that you can change. It is as simple as making a choice to do so.

Positive thinking is powerful thinking. If you want happiness, fulfilment, success and inner peace, start thinking you have the power to achieve those things. Focus on the bright side of life and expect positive results.

You must decide to replace the thoughts of negativity with thoughts of positivity. Decide what words you will change the negative words on your paper to. Once you have done this, make an effort to insert these new positive thoughts in your mind.

You will begin to notice a positive change taking place in your life. Your family, friends and co-workers will all notice it as well. They may not know what is different about you. But they will know that you are not the same person that you were.

If a person constantly replays a negative event in their minds it can lead to depression. Take charge of what you’re thinking

This is a moment-by-moment decision that doesn’t happen overnight. It’s a habit that will take some time to build and good things happen when you maintain a positive attitude! How can you do this? Choose to think uplifting thoughts and a positive attitude every day instead of discouraging ones. You get to decide what you think, which in turn determines how you feel. Become aware of this and dwell on positive ideas throughout the day.

At first, you may have to force yourself to think and find something positive. Consider keeping a journal and write down at least one good thing in your life each day for three weeks. Then think about these blessings instead of discouraging thoughts. Over time your positive thoughts will lead to a better day.

Read inspirational material

You are what you eat, and also what you read. Find inspirational non-fiction and fiction material to read. You may enjoy gritty thrillers or true crime, but to help you find that positive attitude vibe, let’s give you some inspiration.

Try my personal favourite The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho or The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle, both are great for kick starting a new mindset!

Focus on others

Concentrating on assisting others will help you more than you realize. If you succeed in becoming wealthy but are poor in respect to your relationships, you will not be truly prosperous at all! So make a special effort of focusing on others while building your new positive-attitude habit. This will free you up to allow the butterfly of happiness to land on your shoulder when you least expect it.

Take care of your health needs

It’s hard to maintain a positive mindset if you’ve neglected your physical needs. While attitude retraining make an extra effort to eat nutritiously balanced meals. Not getting enough sleep will also be a tremendous hindrance, so make sure you’re getting adequate rest. And don’t forget to get enough exercise.

When you feel down, try to take a brisk 30-minute walk. You’ll feel revived!

Learn contentment

Focus on what you have and not on what you don’t have. Live in the present and enjoy your blessings.
Try to forget acquiring stuff for the purpose of keeping up with others. That only leads to more anxiety. Be thankful for what you do have instead.

When going through difficult experiences – remember that adversity can be a blessing in disguise. You might learn some important lessons during those tough times – like Thomas Edison did.

These lessons can turn into credentials that will enable you to help others when they’re going through tough times. Don’t let negativity ruin your present and future. Instead, build a new habit of having a positive attitude. It will take about 21 days to start seeing consistent changes in the way you think, but it will be worth it!
